CLOSET musicians in and around Beccles are being given the opportunity to join in The Learning Revolution Festival, a month-long celebration of everything that's great about learning for pleasure and the benefits it brings.

Tomorrow, from 10.30am until 2.30pm, people can take part in informal music workshops at St Michael's Church.

As well as working with an internationally renowned choral animator, participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the church's organ and try their hand at a range of percussion and other instruments.

The event marks the launch of a week of events in towns along the Broads.

After Beccles, the festival will move to other places aboard a Broad's cruiser.

As well as offering an exciting and rewarding musical experience, the event will publicise grants for local music and arts groups, and offer refreshments for participants.

Throughout October, hundreds of events across England will highlight the wide variety of learning available. The month will give people who already taking part in informal learning a chance to celebrate what they enjoy, and others the opportunity to try something new.

Rev John Beauchamp, of St Michael's Church, said: “We're delighted to host The Learning Revolution Festival in Beccles. The festival will give everyone locally the opportunity to try something new and to enjoy the benefits of music for pleasure.”
