At the Beccles Town Council meeting on May 15, councillors Andrea Downes and Caroline Topping were proposed by outgoing Youth Champion councillor Sam Kenward as the two Youth Champions for the coming year.
Andrea and I are delighted that our colleagues have again put their faith in us to carry out this very vital role in our community, but it will not be quite the same without Sam, who last year was a driving force in the group.
We wish Sam well as he finishes his university degree and hope that other young people in our community can follow Sam’s shining example both in his community work, volunteering within the community and studying of his degree.
Andrea and I will strive to continue the work we started in the last mayoral year with the Beccles Youth Express magazine and the opening of the new youth cafe. We urge young people in our community to contact us with issues that are effecting them either through our Facebook page, through Beccles Town Hall, or by emailing us. Our contact details are admin@beccles.info
Good luck those taking exams and we look forward to working with you all again.
