In a game where the lead was constantly changing hands, Beccles ended up on the losing side by 21 points to 16.
Beccles started the game poorly and conceded a lot of penalties.
One of these was converted to put Wymondham into the lead. Wymondham continued to press, but when Beccles cleared their lines, Rowney was on hand to collect the loose ball and sprint under the posts for a try to Beccles. Wade added the conversion.
Beccles continued to leak penalties and Wymondham converted another to bring the score back to 6-7. They then scored an unconverted try to go in to the lead.
Beccles had Sale sent to the sin-bin, but seemed to up their game when down to 14 men. They began to put more pressure on the Wymondham defence and were rewarded with a penalty which Wade slotted over to give a half-time score of 11-10 in favour of Wymondham.
Beccles played better in the second half and soon went in to the lead through another Wade penalty. Beccles were up against it in the second half with two players sent to the sin-bin at different times.
This meant Hall, who started the game at flanker, ended up spending time playing at scrum-half and centre as well. He played well in each position and was made the Musker McIntyre man of the match.
Wymondham went back in front with a penalty, but with 10 minutes to go, Beccles regained the lead with another penalty from Wade.
Wymondham put pressure on Beccles and with the Beccles clearance kicks going straight into touch, the action was pinned in the Beccles half.
The Beccles defence was solid, but with time nearly up, Wymondham were awarded a penalty which they took quickly and crashed over for a try. The conversion was added and the referee blew the whistle for full time.
Beccles were disappointed with this result. They had battled hard and lost the two points right at the end of the game. They now have a week off before they take on South Woodham at Beef Meadow
