Captain Damien Loines led from the front with a half century and young Todd Jones bagged four wickets as Hales A enjoyed their first Norfolk League Division Six win of the season by beating Eaton by 92 runs.
Choosing to bat first on a slow wicket at CNS School, Norwich, Loines took the lead role in a century partnership with new signing Kevin Springall.
Ex-Topcroft player Springall, playing his first game for three years, looked solid during a century partnership with Loines, batting well for his 44, while Loines on a wicket where boundaries were at a premium showed good aggression for his 65. Aaron Jones weighed in a typically ebullient 26, while Milton Lindsay added an unbeaten 19 to see the total to 178-6.
Eaton's hopes of establishing a decent platform for their reply were quickly shattered by the swing bowling of teenager Todd Jones, who reduced them to five for three by bowling a triple wicket maiden in the fifth over of the match. He went on to return figures of 4-15 from 12 overs.
The hosts never recovered from his early burst and they eventually slumped to 84 all out in the 40th over of the match, with topscorer L Billington (23) finding little support. Wily spin bowler Johnny Primachandra also bowled cleverly to take three for 32 from nine overs.
Hales joint men of the match: Damien Loines and Todd Jones.
