Loddon Utd 3, Blofield 2

The Loddon revival continued as they recorded a very satisfying double over Blofield with a second 3-2 win.

Blofield were all set for revenge and showed their intent from the off.

They broke quickly and found the net, but it was ruled out for hand-ball. Blofield continued to dominate and Greenhalf twice had to help out at the back.

Soon after Summons and Parkin both made ineffective attempts at a challenge, Blofield crossed from the left. Stebbings managed to palm away only to Brown, who picked out Hurren in the six-yard box who shot over.

Summons played a telling pass inside the full-back for Dan Andersen, but Loddon couldn’t latch onto his low cross. Baylis made two good blocks but then conceded a free-kick 30 yards out. It was well driven and Stebbings took no chances, palming it over.

Blofield attacked down the left and Crawley, not closed down, cut inside to beat Stebbings with a low strike.

Robin Andersen got into the box only to see his difficult cross go over everyone, before Blofield’s Crawley headed straight at Stebbings.

Marjoribanks had an effort blocked and a cross was controversially adjudged to have hit Durrant’s arm. The player was booked and a penalty awarded, which Brown buried.

Robin Andersen chipped through, Squire beat the last man but Woodcock made a great save.

Dan Andersen went on a long run down the right. His cross was cleared as far as Marjoribanks, who picked out Greenhalf on the left. The cross was fired in low and Squire slid in to give the keeper no chance.

Stebbings saved a tame Blofield effort and Parkin had a half-chance with an off-balance header.

Although Blofield re-started with a couple of corners, well cleared by Durrant, it was Loddon who scored next.

A great leap by Hancock saw his header find Marjoribanks. A nice touch found Summons and an even nicer one set up Squire, who evaded a tackle and finished superbly over Woodcock.

Baylis recovered well after being beaten, then Durrant cleared under pressure, but a misplaced header by Parkin set up Blofield for a sweet drive which Stebbings did well to touch over.

Parkin made amends with a great win and pass to Squire, who zipped past his man to set up Robin Andersen, whose drive was cleared.

Brown was dismissed after a set-to with one of his own players. Dan Andersen had a shot blocked and Greenhalf tried his luck from 35 yards.

Then great control and set-up by Marjoribanks saw Dan win a corner. A flowing move started with Durrant ended with Dan again just off target. Baylis then put Squire through but he tried to square when he should have been greedy.

Skoyles got on the end of a Blofield free-kick but headed straight ato Stebbings. His throw out started a move with Summons and Hancock which ended with Dan Andersen’s shot deflected for a corner.

From Summon’s delivery, Durrant rose majestically to head Loddon in front with 17 minutes left on the clock.

Hancock and Stebbings foiled a Blofield chance before Summons had the chance to seal it, but slipped.

Loddon used the corners to run down the clock and Marjoribanks’ skills came into their own. This frustrated Blofield, and Stones saw red after unceremoniously dumping Dan Andersen on his backside.

Musker McIntyre MoM: Squire.
