Beccles 26, Southwold 20

Beccles finished their record- breaking season with victory in the Pony Moore game against Southwold.

In a tough game Beccles led at half-time and held on to win by 26-20.

With many of the regular first team still unavailable, Beccles stuck with a number of the young players that performed so well the week before at North Walsham.

Beccles did welcome back Hinsley, Payne and Rob Wilson. There was also a first-team debut for Long.

Southwold quickly took the lead in the game with a penalty but it was Beccles who were the first to cross the try line.

Beccles kept the ball alive well and Calver found space out wide to go over.

Beccles then scored again when Payne fed Davey-Durak on the crash and he went over under the posts, King adding the conversion.

Southwold pulled a penalty back but it was Beccles who scored again before half-time. Rob Wilson picked the ball from the back of a ruck on the halfway line. He then sprinted through a number of tackles to score.

King added another conversion and the halftime score was 19-6.

Beccles added another try in the second half. The ball was kept alive through a number of phases before Davey-Durak found space to score his second of the game. Veasey-Lark added the conversion.

Southwold started to play some good rugby and had Beccles under pressure for long periods. The Southwold scrum-half found space around the side of a ruck to get one try back.

Then Maeer barged his way over to bring Southwold to within one score.

They threw everything they had at the hosts but the defence held firm and Beccles won by 26-20.
