Bungay Captain Len Bird teed off with his ball finishing in bushes near the green, the following tee shot was Beccles captain Sam Cooper who also put the ball straight into the bushes. Things did improve for both players.
The match was closely contested, with both sides winning in a couple of games. It was decided that the result would be an honorable draw.
The teams were treated to a three-course meal, prepared by Sue Edwards and helped by daughter Apryl.
Ladies' captain Sam Cooper thanked green keeper Mike Jolly for cutting and preparing the greens, this was also acknowledged by Bird, who had several compliments from his players on the excellent condition of the greens. Thanks also went to club captain Willie White for working the very busy bar.
Both teams are looking forward to the second match at Bungay on August 24.
