Tournament organiser Ian Gosling has attracted 22 pairs to compete for the Captain’s Cup at Bungay Bowls Club on Sunday.
Ron Mitchell’s (Norwich) entry beat Rod Taylor’s (Attleborough) entry last year to win the cup for the first time, while Jack Newnham (Lowestoft Railway) beat Bungay’s Bob Plum to take third spot. All are entered for Sunday. Also returning for the event, which is once again being sponsored by local butcher John Groom, are Costessey Crown’s Steve Tayt who won in 2015 and Roger Bullen (Bungay) who won in 2014. Ian Dunnett (Diss), Ray Lutkin (Costessey) and Alan Buck (Oulton Broad) complete the returning pairs from the last four years.
Qualifying starts at 9am with the finals around 5pm.
Bungay BC avoided a hat-trick of first round defeats in the Suffolk Bowls England County Cup competitions by beating local rivals Thurlton by three rinks to two to progress to the last 16.
