Bungay had an early finish on Saturday as they beat North Runcton A by 10 wickets in a match that lasted less than 33 overs.

Chris Fuller’s side bowled their visitors out for just 55 before knocking off the runs required with the minimum of fuss to make it two wins and two defeats so far this season in Division Three of the Norfolk Alliance.

With a threat of rain later in the day Fuller decided to ask North Runcton to bat first after winning the toss, and it soon became clear that it had been the right decision.

The West Norfolk side, who have struggled so far this season and have been hit by a points deduction, crumbled in 22.1 overs as the Bungay bowlers applied the pressure from the word go.

The most eye-catching figures came from Teddy Mattocks, who took 4-4 in 4.1 overs, while George Shipley was the other main wicket taker with 4-29. Fuller was the other successful bowler, with the visitors having just 10 men.

The task then for openers Will Lewis and Martyn Ramm was to get the job done as quickly as possible to avoid any problems with the weather, and that’s exactly what transpired, with the end coming on the first ball of the 11th over.

Lewis finished unbeaten on 26 and Ramm on 23.

Bungay will now be looking to build on the emphatic win when they travel to Swardeston B tomorrow (1pm start).

Bungay A were also involved in a one-sided game on Saturday - but they were on the wrong end of it.

Opponents Topcroft C made 166-7, with Callum Clark, Oliver Hall and Recce Ling all taking two wickets, and that was far too much for the seconds, who were bowled out fot 51 in the 21st over. No batsman made double figures, with extras the top score on 19.

It’s Great Yarmouth A at home tomorrow.
