Bungay Black Dog Running Club juniors Molly Gard, Jessica Sanders and Dexter Limpenny participated at the junior interclub competition Series at Great Yarmouth.

Dexter followed up his second place in the first competition with a third in the throwing and long jump, third place in the 600m after a fine sprint, and an excellent equal fourth in the 75m with another blistering sprint.

Molly ran well to hold sixth in the 75m and 600m races, was 13th in long jump and 17th in throwing.

It was Jessica’s first time in a club competition where she competed really well to come 14th in the 600m, 16th in long jump and 17th in throwing and long jump.

Eleven Black Dogs were among almost 600 runners taking part in the first race of the Wroxham 5k series. On a cool evening ending with light rain Graham Jenvey, recovering from an injury, was the first Black Dog home in 18.02. Joanne Cox won her age category in 21.08, other results being, Chris Chorley 20.23, Kevin Clark 24.15, Robin Ashe 24.30, Bobbie Sauerzapf 24.35, Rose Ball 25.36, Christine Muttitt 26.40, Mike Ball 30.55, Paul Bird 33.42.

At the Chase the Train race, an 8.4k run along the Bure Valley railway from Aylsham to Wroxham, the Black Dog results were: 19 Chris Chorley 1:00.38, 47 Simon Sparkes 1:09.35, 64 Bobbie Sauerzapf 1:11.15, 119 Sarah Sparkes 1:24.09, 167 Emma Youngman 1:42.37.

There was another bumper turn-out from Waveney Valley AC at race two of the Great Yarmouth 5-mile promenade series, which attracted a field of 367 in testing conditions.

Dylan Neeve, in his first 5-mile race for Waveney, was the first to finish for the club in 19th place in 29:57. Harriet Lyman won first junior girl trophy in a time of 33:38.

There were personal best recorded by Daniel Harris (31:56), Billy Underdown (33:45), Matt Baldry (34:06), Daniel Critoph (39:19), Louise Harrod (42:36), Jayne Richardson (44:44), Emma Branch (47:41) and Kirsty Howe (49:20).

Sam Lines was a trophy winner at race one of this year’s Wroxham 5k series. She finished 67th and third lady, in a personal best time of 18:32.

Mark Smith completed his fourth marathon in his challenge of 10 for this year in aid of Prostate Cancer UK. He completed the Asics Brathay Windermere event in 4:44.25.
