Tuesday saw the first of the Beccles v Bungay golf matches of the year, which produced an ace.

Beccles, playing at home, were led by ladies' captain Sam Cooper, partnered with club president (father) Rod Cooper. Starting well in the high winds adding another two clubs' lengths to the hole, the first hole was halved.

On the second Bungay's club captain Len Bird played safe and laid up whilst partner Steve Wright, taking a driver, went for the green, spotting for the group. Sam watched the ball roll down towards the flag after all the tee shots, the fourball, walked to the green to find only three of the four balls. Rod Cooper checked the cup, to find Steve's ball snugly in the hole on the par-three hole.

All the teams struggled in the high winds but had a thoroughly enjoyable game.

The result for the competition was an honourable draw for the first leg. The next game is at Bungay on August 25.

Thanks were expressed by Sam to the greenkeeper for the superb conditions of the greens, her team and congratulations went to the worthy opponents from Bungay. Special thanks went to the catering staff of Lee Walding, Shirley Walding and Sue Edwards.
