The atrocious weather conditions kept several members in their beds when Beccles Golf Club staged a four-ball better ball competition on December 13.

Those brave enough to venture out faced bitter cold, galeforce winds and driving sleet which forced some pairs back into the clubhouse after only completing nine holes.

Three pairs all finished with equal scores of 39 points with the resulting countback giving first place to Rod Cooper and Paul Cook.

Runners-up were George Savill and Rod Green with Mike Webb and Mike Garrood placed third.

Jula's refreshments after the event were much needed and appreciated.

The December medal held on December 6 was won by Ray Walding and the rare event of a hole-in-one was achieved by Paul Segust on the par three 17th hole during the event.

Beccles Golf Club's junior section enjoyed their Christmas competition and presentation of awards and although the weather kept some away, the youngsters enjoyed a driving, chipping and putting competition followed by prize-giving by Lady Captain Sam Cooper in the clubhouse.
