Ace results at Beccles Tennis Club
LAST Sunday saw the climax of the summer tennis season with the Beccles club's finals day. In the men's singles Conor McQuistin reversed last year's loss to his younger brother Owain with consistently powerful ground strokes.
LAST Sunday saw the climax of the summer tennis season with the Beccles club's finals day. In the men's singles Conor McQuistin reversed last year's loss to his younger brother Owain with consistently powerful ground strokes.
He continued his good form into the afternoon, winning the doubles with Glenn Drake by a clear margin in a round robin competition with four other pairs.
The ladies' doubles was a much closer affair, with the top three pairs all beating each other. In the end Sharon Carter and Rachel Clarke emerged as the winners by just three games.
The mixed doubles between Darren Poppy, Ann Calver and Glenn Drake, Anne Green will be played at a later date.

The next event is the end of season American mixed for the Ken Cracknell Cup, to be played on Sunday, September 26 from 11am to 2pm.

The Norwich Winter League starts on Sunday, October 3 with Beccles A in Division Three and the B team in Division Four.
Captains are Philip Tye and Francoise Price and squads will be finalised soon.
