WITH entries still coming in for Sunday's 11th Great East Run at Bungay, the entry limit has been increased to 550 for the 20k race.

Already approaching 500 have entered, and with 150 so far down to run the 10k distance, there could be a full complement of 800 athletes gathering at the start at the sports centre at Queen's Road on Sunday morning.

Main sponsors this year are Adnams Brewery at Southwold, and each finisher will receive a bottle of Adnams beer - an incentive to finish the picturesque route around Bungay along the narrow winding roads of The Saints parishes.

Among the runners will be 81-year-old Maurice Copeland from North Norfolk Beach Runners, who is planning to run the 20k Bungay race - there is also a 10k option this year. Last year he ran the Norwich Half Marathon in a creditable time, but he said the Bungay run will be his last at the half-marathon distance.

Two members of Adnams staff will also be among the runners - Belinda Jennings, quality control manager in the brewing department, in the 20k, and Sean Clark, head of the website team, in the 10k.

Full services and refreshments will be provide at the sports hall site for runners and spectators

Entries will be taken on the day, up to 9.30am, if the limit is not reached.
