Barsham entertained Carlton Rangers on a somewhat damp Beef Meadow pitch.

Following the previous week’s game that had to be abandoned it was always going to be difficult game for the Barsham side after seeing their team-mate so badly injured.

So it was not what you would call a vintage Barsham performance. On the other hand the visitors started by showing Barsham they meant business by nearly scoring as early as the third minute, but fortunately the shot flew wide.

Kieran Bale, who had a good game, created problems for the Carlton defenders with his runs from midfield. Nick Holmes created some useful attacking moves, but the visitors’ defence did just enough to keep Barsham out.

Eventually Carlton beat the Barsham offside trap and scored. They soon made it two with a very well-struck free-kick from just outside the penalty area.

Barsham pulled a goal back midway through the half with an excellent strike from distance by Laurie Clarke who rifled the ball home from outside the area.

Paul Clark was unlucky not to equalise with a volley that flew into the side netting, Bale had an excellent shot well saved and Matt Fiske had a good shot just wide.

Barsham manager Mark Blades reshuffled his line-up at half-time and although having the visitors pinned back for a long period Barsham could not score.

With nearly their first attack of the second half Carlton scored a third goal.

Barsham pushed more players forward and this proved costly when they conceded a fourth goal.

Basically it was again a case of not being clinical enough in front of goal and lapses of concentration in defence that cost Barsham the game and gave the visitors a deserved win.
