BECCLES B against Hemsby in Division Nine was the only Lucas Fettes Norfolk League match to be completed due to Saturday's bad weather.

Beccles were missing several players and fielded a new-look side with four players making their first appearances of the season. They lost a match played in fine spirit by seven wickets, however.

Having lost the toss, Beccles were asked to bat, and the innings started well with Patrick and Wentworth batting patiently to record an opening partnership of 44 runs.

Patrick top scored with 25 runs and Wentworth contributed 15.

Once the partnership was broken, wickets fell at regular intervals as Beccles closed on 73 all out.

The pick of the Hemsby bowlers was Tilbrook, who took five wickets in his 10 overs.

Hemsby started their reply in an aggressive fashion, looking to play shots from the outset.

Dean Cable contributed another impressive performance with the ball, dismissing two of the top order with Smith claiming the other wicket to fall.

The standout performance of the match was from Hemsby opener B Colclough who played superbly in difficult condition to finish on 54 not out.

The match was played in a good spirit throughout with both teams keen to ensure the game went ahead despite the difficult conditions.

Beccles will look to bounce back tomorrow when they take on Sprowston C away.

Man-of-the-match: Brett Colclough (Hemsby).

Bungay A's game against Norfolk League Division six leaders Great Melton B fell victim to the predicted rain after only two overs.

Tim Porter and Carl Cudden had moved to five without loss before the rain had the final say.

Bungay A host mid-table Cringleford A tomorrow, hoping to avenge their last-ball defeat by one wicket earlier in the season, and tighten their grip on second place.
