Beccles' mini-masters take centre stage

Beccles rugby mini's section travelled to Diss on Sunday to take on some strong well-organised sides from age groups from under 7s to under 12s with great success once again.
The under 7s, the youngest of the age groups, were pure class in their matches, and not one of them went home without scoring a try.
It was a great little team, who constantly supported the ball carrier and played with smiles on their faces.
Anyone of them could have taken home the player of the match, but Samuel scored some great tries to just edge it.
Congratulations also to the under 8s for another brilliant team performance. Two matches back to back against two very strong Diss sides saw all the members of the team excel in tough games.
Ball handling, overlapped passing and teamwork were at a high level. There were tries scored from deep in their own half created by intercepted passes and great back up support from everyone in the team.
Player-of-the-day went to Tommy. He ran non-stop throughout both games, with great defensive work, tagging Diss players left right and centre. In attack, he created chances for team mates to as well as for himself.
The team’s outstanding performance was backed up by the Diss coaches asking if Beccles would consider taking part in joint training sessions to bring on some of their players.
The under 9s once again proved they were a match for any club in the region.
Muddy conditions provided the ideal opportunity to christen the new under 9 jerseys, kindly provided by Coastline Carpets, and the squad of 15 players made sure that the new strip looked well worn at the end of the session.
The side played five matches against strong Diss opposition and came out with honours even at the end of the day.
The first man-of-the-match Dexter Limpenny epitomised the spirit of the entire side with his barnstorming runs and never-say-die tackles that left Diss players strewn across the pitch.
The second man-of-the match Harry Fisher made his stamp on the game by always putting himself into space and offering up a great passing option for his team-mates when they ran into trouble.
All in all it was another great Beccles performance as the ‘minis machine’ continued to go from strength to strengtth
The under 10 team played two matches against a well-organised Diss side in their new shirts sponsored by Karpet Kingdom.
The first match was truly played in the spirit of rugby with all the players from both sides taking to the field and mixing the sides up with Beccles winning five tries to two with two tries from Ben T, one from Ben A and two from Diss players.
The second match was a full-on contest with some end-to-end action and the defensive actions of the whole team were superb.
It would have been difficult to have counted how many tackles Riley, Ben A, Jack, Evan, Ben F, Issac, Ben T put in.
Beccles eventually won the match four tries to three with Ben A completing a hat-trick with the last play of the game and the other try scored by Jack. A fantastic team performance with Issac and Evan making some strong powerful runs, great running from Ben A, Riley, Jack, Ben T and great passing from Ben F who constantly plays with a smile on his face which is great to see.
Player-of-the-match was a very difficult decision with an outstanding team performance but the award eventually went to Evan Gartley for the power and strength of his runs and quickly learning what to do next.
It was a tough day at the office for the under 11/12s at a cold and wet Diss.
They played three hard matches against a well-disciplined Diss side.
The Bulls showed great resilience, digging in hard in both attack and defence.
The team showed some great passages of play and good team spirit with some individual skills shining through.
The man-of-the-match went to Scott for his dogged performance in defence and all round enthusiasm and willingness to do well.
Thanks go to all for for travelling on such a wet and miserable morning.
The team is improving weekly, and their commitment and support is paying off.
Next week Beccles are at home for the Mini Christmas Fun Session.
