Beccles Town Reserves lost in the first round of a cup they could do without being in, losing 3-2 to Lakenheath Reserves.

Against the wishes of the club and a few other teams from North Suffolk the Reserves found themselves this year playing in the Suffolk Senior Reserves Cup rather than the Suffolk Junior Cup.

Once again there was a late reshuffle due to injuries, late call-offs and call ups but the team still looked good on paper. Unfortunately for the first 10 minutes Beccles seemed as though they were still in the changing rooms and found themselves 2 down against a confident Lakenheath side. 20 minutes in young Adam Woods was aloud to turn his marker and shot from 18 yards to pull a goal back for Beccles.

On 30 minutes the away team went down to 10 men after Alex Jefferies beat his man only to have his legs taken away after the ball had gone.

The second half started well for Beccles and they had alot of the play but were missing chances and hitting the woodwork 3 times. Beccles pushed on for an equiliser and were left short at the back which gave Lakenheath a third goal.

With 15 minutes left Chick Hill scored from 20 yards after good work from Riccy Wilson and Dave Larter. James Ellis in goal for Beccles was still busy and kept the Beccles side in this game on numerous times.

Eventually the final whistle beat Beccles, a good performance and one not to get to down hearted with.

Beccles Reserves can now concentrate on the league which after this match they are still in fifth position.
