Beccles Reserves take centre stage - and they don’t disappoint

With the first team’s visit to Stalham Town called off because of a frozen pitch Beccles Town Reserves took centre stage on Saturday.

And they didn’t disappoint, maintaining their good season in Division Five South of the Anglian Combination by beating visitors Newton Flotman 6-2.

The visitors have made a very poor start to the seasobn, conceding many goals, so it looked as though this would be a one-sided affair.

However, this was not to be the case as Flotman put up a brave fight, in spite of going behind early on.

After scoring the early goal on around six minutes, Beccles were put back on the defensive by some real pressure which paid off when Newton Flotman managed to equalise after 30 minutes.

This galvanised Beccles and their better efforts were rewarded when they went 2-1 up just before half-time.

The second half was quite different with Beccles creating better attacks and mopping up any pressure from Flotman and outscoring them by 4-1 to give a final score of 6-2.
