The new season is set to be an historic one for Beccles Rugby Club and will bear the fruits of a number of years’ hard work.
In the coming weeks the club is set to start work on a £100k project which will see the playing facilities at the club dramatically improved by establishing a new fully-floodlit match-day pitch and training area and a revamped junior training facility.
This will provide the club with some of the best facilities in the area and will support the excellent work seen on the pitch over recent seasons.
In addition to this the club is also on the verge of being awarded the full club seal of approval by the RFU.
Having gained the youth seal of approval last season, the club – and in particular Ian Rees – has worked tirelessly in pursuit of this prestigious award which only a few clubs in the area have been able to achieve.
All of this work has dramatically pushed the club forward and will support the plans of both the youth and senior sections over the coming years.
Having had a break for a couple of months, the senior section begins preparations for the new campaign on Tuesday.
The coaching team of Ian Rees and Panda Warnes have been working hard during the close season and will have one or two new ideas and plans to develop the teams over the coming months.
Assisting this season will be some focused sessions from fitness coaches Owen Hadridge and Darren Maeer.
The introduction of Hadridge and Maeer to the coaching team will ensure that the players are in optimum condition for when the season kicks off.
Competition for places should be hotly contested this season with several new local additions to the squad and a number of new and returning overseas players.
One returning player will be Reece Ling, who comes back after three months of playing in Australia.
Training starts at 7pm on Tuesday – and will continue every Thursday and Tuesday thereafter.
Any new or old players who would like to join the club or get a taste of rugby should just turn up on the night.
To support its growth, the club is also looking for additions to its coaching team at both youth and senior level.
