Beccles CC's first XI travelled to Ingham on Saturday to play Norwich unsure whether the game would go ahead after a night of rain.

As a wet outfield greeted the two skippers ,the decision had to be made and Norwich won the toss and decided to bowl.

Norwich made first use of a track

that was to seam around a little, removing opener Richard Turrell for five with the score at 1-5.

Then captain David Turrell and Daniel Vihm came together, putting on 29 for the second wicket before the captain succumbed to lbw after a Boycott-type innings at the top of the order, 13 off 53 balls in which he left a straight one and was adjudged lbw - a bad error from the skipper.

That brought a collapse of wickets in which Beccles lost 3-5 and were reeling at 4-39.

Beccles never really recovered, losing wickets steadily throughout their innings to be bowled out for 94 with Vihm top scoring with 32 and Turrell 13.

For Norwich, Roberts finished with the figures of 5-35 assisted by Key with 4-14 to make inroads through the Beccles top order.

As Norwich began their chase, they hit two fours off Turrell's first over before some tight bowling form Vihm and Turrell found edges at the top of the order.

But the half-chances went down, apart from a good catch at second slip from veteran Paul off Dave Turrell.

With only 94 to play with Turrell then rang the changes through his bowlers searching for wickets. It wasn't to be, Norwich winning two wickets down in the chase after just 23 overs.

Sunday was the first round of the Biss Cup with Beccles having the job ahead of them playing Great Witchingham.

After captain David Turrell won the toss and decided to bat, Beccles were quickly reeling at 4-33 and on the back foot.

It wasn't until a dashing 42 from Eddo Brandes' younger cousin Richard Holmes and 13 from David Turrell and 13 from right-arm Chinaman bowler Darren George which saw the visitors dismissed for 124.

In the run chase it took Great Witchingham 19 overs to get through with a classy 62 from opener Athurton and the loss of only one wicket.
