Beccles Town beaten at home after disappointing second half

With the teams separated by only one point it was thought this would be a close game - but it was visitors who pulled away in the second half to take the points.
With Beccles including players returning from injury the first half was very even with both sides constructing good attacks and both defending well.
Cable was called into action early to foil a close-range header from a right wing cross.
Shaw had a fine shot tipped over by the big Blofield keeper before, on 21 minutes Cable, saved well from a fierce 25 yard shot.
Blofield defended well against efforts from Bishop, Brown and Shade from a corner and the half ended even at 0-0.
Right from the kick-off Beccles launched a good attack down the right and the cross fell to Bishop who got into a tussle with the Blofield defence and seemed to be pulled down but penalty appeals were turned down. From the next attack the ball fell to Brown just outside the box and his fierce volley was just wide.
On 50 minutes Blofield opened the scoring when Oller latched on to a poor clearance and hammered the ball home. He almost scored a second when a slow response from Beccles permitted him another clear chance which was well saved by Cable.
Two minutes later Blofield scored again when Fryers forced his way clear and placed his shot beyond Cable’s reach. Two goals in four minutes knocked the stuffing out of Beccles who were clearly frustrated at not taking their earlier chances.
Hurren replaced Brown and started to team up well with Bishop but too often they were isolated when the ball was cleared up to them and the strong Blofield defence held firm.
Hurren had a shot blocked on the line and Glover blazed over from the clearance but on 65 minutes another breakaway down the left caught Beccles napping and Fryers was again played into a good position and finished well to make it 3-0.
Archie Wallace, one of the rising stars of the Under-18s, came on at right back with Squires going off and Glover switching to left back. Wallace did not look out of place and Beccles had another period of possession with several good attacks but were always met with a strong defence. Beccles Town (4-3-3): Cable, Glover, Galer, Shade, Squires, Grimmer, Shaw, Brown, Gill, Bishop and Godbold. Subs: Hurren, Waterman, Wallace.
