Beccles' winning draw against North Runcton A was enough to take them into the second place in Alliance Division Two, seven points clear of Saxlingham.

Being put into bat first, Beccles changed their opening line-up again with Pete Anderson joining Rob Porter.

Thirteen were scored from the first over from Crisp, and with Anderson dropped when the score was 54, they carried on in this mood for 19 overs, Anderson being bowled by young Major for 47.

Dick and Rob Porter have enjoyed several good partnerships this season and they added 81 before Dick was bowled for 45.

Rob Porter carried on with Vihm until judged lbw for 66 with the score to 183, North Runcton having used five bowlers to try and see him off. Vihm was caught shortly afterwards with Rich Turrell being bowled as the score stood at 201.

Skipper Sydenham and Steve Powley added 26, both then out in the same over, the total 233for eight.

Runcton's Crisp and T Coote ticked the scoreboard over until Crisp was stumped by Anderson in the 17th over with the score at 57. And within three balls Coote followed him to the pavilion.

Berkenshaw started his innings with a tremendous six but was out with the reply on 95.

Taylor hit a spate of fours and he was not out as North Runcton's innings closed on 195 for six.

tWith the sudden death of Peter Anderson earlier this week Beccles Town Cricket Club would like to extend their deepest sympathy to his parents and family.

As a mark of respect for Peter, a minute's silence will be held before each of the club's fixtures tomorrow.
