Beccles went to the top of the division as a strong finish, with three quick tries, saw them past Canvey Island 30-7.

The first Beccles try came from a turnover in the home half. Musker McIntyre Man of the Match Geyser broke with the ball and fed Frost who sprinted clear to touch down.

Beccles came up against some organised Canvey defence but Murray managed to add a penalty to make it

8-0 at the interval.

The start of the second half was similar to the first, with neither team able to score, but this changed when Rix was harshly sent to the sin bin. Canvey took advantage straight away when they went over for a converted try.

Beccles weathered the storm and began to break out of defence. They increased their lead with a Murray penalty before Murray cut through the Canvey defence to score out wide. Beccles were well on top now and Rowney went over under the posts.

Sale then pounced on some loose ball to go clear through the middle and sprint clear to score. Murray converted both of these tries to give a final score of 30-7.

Beccles will hope to continue this form when they travel to West Norfolk on Saturday.
