Beccles Town Football Club held its annual meeting at the clubhouse recently, in front of a receptive audience. Chairman Arnie Poll congratulated and thanked the team, the committee and everyone associated with the club on probably their best season ever, finishing ninth in the Anglian Combination Premier Division, being runners-up in the Mummery Cup (senior league knock-out cup) and winning the Suffolk Senior Cup at Portman Road, Ipswich.

Chairman Arnie Poll congratulated and thanked the team, the committee and everyone associated with the club on probably their best season ever, finishing ninth in the Anglian Combination Premier Division, being runners-up in the Mummery Cup (senior league knock-out cup) and winning the Suffolk Senior Cup at Portman Road, Ipswich.

His sentiments were confirmed by secretary John Humby in his report, and treasurer Paul Honeywood was very pleased to report on a healthy current financial status of the club.

The standing committee were all re-elected unopposed and new members were elected to complete a committee for season 2009/10 as follows: Chairman Arnie Poll, secretary John Humby, treasurer Paul Honeywood, vice-chairman David Walters, plus Mark Brown, Toby Craig, Ashley Goldspink, Mark Harvey, Steve Hunter, Ernie Peters, Chris Punt, Tim Scarfe, Shaun Soloman, Ian Stride and Maurice Youngs.

The first committee meeting for the 2009/10 season will be on Tuesday, June 23.

The annual presentation evening was held at the clubhouse complete with a buffet and disco. Winners of the awards for the season were as follows: Young player of the year Alex Holmes, presented by Treasurer Paul Honeywood: Reserves team player of the year Anthony Martin, presented by Reserves team manager Richard Codling; First team player of the year Neil McMorran, presented by First team manager Mick Broxup; Supporters player of the year Sam Barham, presented by Ann McMorran.

First team manager Mick Broxup was presented with a set of engraved crystal glasses by chairman Arnie Poll to commemorate the season's achievements.

Several mementos of the Suffolk Senior Cup win were presented and exchanged including players' certificates with a touch of humour, created by absent first team regular, Nick Day.

The whole of the presentation ceremony was accompanied by choruses of cheers and chants from a large group of players and was well received by all attendees.
