BUNGAY Town turned in an encouraging performance on Wednesday as they convincingly beat Anglian Combination Premier Division side Loddon 4-1.

Last season’s top scorer Dan Andrews rifled in the first goal, direct from a 20-yard free-kick, and Charlie Jones got the second after being set up by James Youngman.

The third was a headed own goal brought about by another teasing cross from Youngman, and Jones put the Black Dogs 4-0 up at half-time with a clinical finish.

Loddon looked a better side after the interval, scoring their consolation goal with 15 minutes left.

The Black Dogs used four substitutes, one of them Aidan Lowe, who joined brothers Dan and Matt in the line up. It meant Bungay finished the game with three brothers in the side for the first time since the 1980s, when the Mickleburgh brothers, David, Graham and Paul, were regulars.

Bungay’s next warm-up game is at Haughley tomorrow.

They open their league campaign at Harleston on Friday, August 19 (6.30pm). Their first home game will be against Mundford on August 27 (2.30pm). In the Junior League Cup first round they are home to East Harling. The Reserves’ first league game is at Mulbarton on August 20.
