BUNGAY Black Dogs Chris Chorley and Bobbie Sauerzapf decided to run off their Christmas excesses by competing in the Ely New Years Eve 10k race.

As usual this race is fully subscribed well before the closing date, probably due to the free bottle of beer given to all finishers!

Over 500 runners lined up at the start in very cold and foggy conditions and Chris sped around the course to finish in 41:23 minutes in 67th overall with Bobbie in 251st place in a time of 48:57 minutes.

Not content with that Chris and Bobbie then joined six other Black Dogs to compete in the New Year's Day 10k at Wymondham.

This race was again a sell-out well before Christmas with over 400 entries and again Chris Chorley was first Black Dog to finish in 78th overall in a time of 43:31 minutes.

David Punt who is running well at present was next back in 46:00 in 123rd place with Richard Dye, recovering from a virus, just behind in 46:46 in 135th. Nigel Gilham finished in 47:53mins in 157th with Bobbie next in 50:45 in 204th.

The other three Black Dogs all ran together with Rob Donovan in 303rd with a time of 59:40 followed by Phil Neave in 304th place just four seconds behind with Sue Potter just missing the one hour mark by 16 seconds in 305th place.

Roland Shaw couldn't get a race number so he just ran the race as a training run and finished alongside Nigel Gilham.

This Sunday is the club handicap 10k starting from Ditchingham Village Hall. All club members competing must register between 9.30-9.50am as the race starts at 10am.
