Beccles Ladies starred in an Atherley Trohpy win as Suffolk Ladies enjoyed a win over Lincolnshire in the first round of the inter-county trophy played at neutral Cambridge Chesterton on Saturday by 113 shots to 107.

Five Beccles players, Nora Rutherford, Tracey Topple and teenagers Louise Catchpole and sisters Lauren and Kirsty Clarke played in the match with another youngster, Georgina Marwood travelling as reserve. In the next round, to be played by January 4, Suffolk will play Cambridgeshire.
The Beccles Ladies Vivienne Trophy Team narrowly lost their first game in the competition to Acle by 63 shots to 68.
In the Men's County League, Beccles maintained their 100 per cent record with a win against Felixstowe by 91 shots to 59.

On Saturday evening the annual captain against president match resulted in a win for the president's team. A buffet was provided by the two team captains which was enjoyed by all the players and supporters.
Tomorrow is the annual Ladies' Charity Day at the club with several stalls and attractions throughout the afternoon starting at 1pm.
