BUNGAY A go into the last two games of Norfolk League Division Three with a chance of getting promotion after an excellent all-round win at league leaders Happisburgh.

Windy conditions and a short sided boundary resulted in skipper Haines opting to unusually open the bowling.

Aided by a leg side catch, and an excellent stumping by keeper Chang, both openers were out. Flatt weighed in with another wicket as Bungay applied more pressure. Tight lines from Flatt (3-35) and Richardson(3-53) in the middle order made runs hard to come by. Richardson struck three times late in his spell. The highlight was a superb left-handed catch from Haines to open up the tail end. Aggressive second spells by Pawsey (2-26) and Flatt left Happisburgh all out for 164, an excellent performance in the field.

An aggressive start by Fuller (18) and Chang (20) put the run-rate above what was needed. However, both were quickly dismissed before Ramm and Richardson continued the effort.

Excellent bowling began to make inroads as the Bungay batsmen's aggressive chase left them vulnerable. When Richardson fell for 37, skipper Haines had to bat diligently with the remaining batsmen to get to the required total.

When Pawsey was bowled, this left Bedingfield to help Haines with 30 required, but at only two an over.

Aided by some stout defence, and 12 byes, the pair worked the total slowly down. Getting the runs in the 44th over, Bungay were jubilant, and will go into tomorrow's game at Great Melton B knowing a good result here could force them back into second place.
