WITH the poor recent weather curtailing even the most die-hard of football teams, the newly-formed Bungay Town Netball Club has been going from strength to strength in its first few weeks.

The ladies of Bungay have been defying snow and driving rain in their bid to form their club for what is essentially a fun way to keep fit and meet new people, with between 30 and 40 ladies aged from 18 to 55 turning up every week.

The club have had fantastic support from local businesses including Kevin Talbot, painter and decorator, and Ben Sprake, from Sprake and Tyrell Builders.

They have enlisted the services of netball coach Jenny Box and assistant coach Linda Tuffs to share their netball experience.

The club has been formed by Lianne Purland, Becky Purland, Rachael Ramm, Kat Bridges and Michelle Fuller-Watts.

Michelle said: “We have been overwhelmed by the response. We know that there are a lot of women in and around Bungay who maybe played netball at school and want a way to get back into the sport.

“We would urge anyone who might be feeling a bit uneasy about starting again to please just come down on Thursday, give it a try and have some fun.”

New members are always welcome to turn up on a Thursday evening at the Bungay and District Sports Association 7.30 to 8.30pm.

The cost is just 2 per session and for more details or for sponsorship opportunities please contact Michelle on 01986 895974 or find the club on Facebook at Bungay Town Netball.
