THIS weekend Bungay Bowls Club has the honour of staging the Suffolk EBF Area A semi-finals and finals.

Players appearing this weekend need to win just four more games in order to represent Suffolk in the EBF National Finals at Skegness in August. Only two Bungay bowlers will be playing this weekend and they are James Gosling and Jack Powley who will be playing together in the Under-25 Pairs.

Action commences at 10am on both days, finishing around 5pm. Spectators are welcome.

In the Suffolk Ladies EBF Area semi-finals held at Sole Bay at the beginning of the month Ann Swanston was Bungay's only representative and she lost to Joy Squire of Hales 21-17.

Bungay bowed out of the Bowls Suffolk county competitions last weekend when they lost on four of the five rinks in the last 16 of the Millennium Trophy to Ipswich Bowls Club. Club captain Roger Bullen, playing the four wood singles, was the only winning rink for the home team.

On Sunday week Bungay hold their third open tournament of the season. Sponsored by Harleston's award winning builder Graham Johnson. The Chairman's Shield tournament is played to the Bowls Suffolk 3-wood triples rules and triples can be all men all women or a mixture.

If you are interested in entering please contact Ian Gosling on (01986) 892982.
