Bungay’s top golf honour

PUBLISHED: 14:14 18 November 2010

Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club were represented at the recent Suffolk Golf Partnership Seminar to collect two prestigious awards.

It was with some considerable pride that Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club received the Suffolk GolfMark Club of the Year 2010.

Presented by Colin Firmin to Sue Strutt-Holmes and Peter Walker (Andrew Collison was unable to attend) it recognises the high quality of their organisation and standard of application. Bungay was one of 15 Suffolk golf clubs to obtain the GolfMark award this year and High Achiever status followed by this award illustrates the commitment of the club to the GolfMark standard and principles.

On the same evening the club vice-captain, Brian Richardson, received a further award which acknowledges the status of Bungay and Waveney Valley Golf Club as an Approved County Academy Training Centre.

The club is firmly committed to the development of golf as a major sport in Suffolk and is looking forward to the next challenge as National GolfMark Club of the Year 2011.
