Bungay throw away chances

RARELY can Bungay have dominated a game to the extent they did at Stalham on Saturday but still fail to win it.
They played some good football in their constant wave of attacks but failed to put away many good chances - and it could have cost them all three points in the end - Stalham failed from the penalty spot with 20 minutes to go.

RARELY can Bungay have so dominated a game yet failed to win it.
They played some good football in their constant waves of attacks but failed to put away many good chances. And it could have cost them all three points as Stalham failed from the penalty spot with 20 minutes to go.
It was the Black Dogs' third draw in five games, in which they have won only once, and saw them slip to fifth in the Anglian Combination Division One table.
Stalham caused Bungay early problems, and one low cross was scrambled away with difficulty. Paul Hunter put a free-kick from the edge of the area straight at the keeper after Ed Collings was fouled, then Collings headed narrowly over frm Mark Harvey's cross.
Jimmy Bligh made a fine one-handed save from a point-blank volley, and as Bungay replied Cai King just failed to turn in a low cross from Neil Renaut.
Collings was sent clear but fired wide with only the keeper to beat.
In the second half Bungay totally dominated. They opened up the home defence from the kick-off but Collings took the ball round the keeper only to have his effort blocked, and King's follow-up was wayward.
Craig Hunting could not get enough direction on a corner from Paul Bullen, King brought a good save from the keeper, then his lobbed pass almost put Tom Amis clear but the keeper was first to the ball.
A dangerous cross from Amis just cleared the waiting Collings and King and Bullen fired narrowly over following a free-kick.
It seemed they must score, but with 20 minutes left Sean Payne fouled a forward in the box and was relieved to see the spot-kick fired wide.
Bungay's Hunter brought a fine save from the keeper from 20 yards and from the corner King's effort was deflected and tipped over by the keeper. From another of the numerous corners, the keeper did well to keep out an effort from King.
In a rare Stalham attack Bligh made a last-ditch save when Harvey's intended back-pass failed to reach him.
For Bungay Renaut blazed a good chance over and Danny Wilby's low curling effort just missed the post.
Again Stalham almost committed daylight robbery in another break which forced Bligh to make a fine save. It was the first time in their 14 games this season that the Black Dogs have failed to score.
Team: J Bligh, M Harvey, C Hunting, S Payne, T Daniels (S Campbell), P Bullen, P Hunter, N Renaut, C King, T Amis, E Collings (D Wilby).
Tomorrow Bungay visit St Andrews.
