Bungay Town claim emphatic derby win over Loddon

The Black Dogs completed a comprehensive victory in this derby clash.
They were four up at half-time, and although the home side came more into the game in the second half, the result was never in doubt.
The visitors took the lead within the first five minutes as Josh Knights’ free-kick was played into the area and when the ball came out to Ryan Cook on the right edge of the area he drilled a low shot across the keeper into the far corner of the net for his first goal for the club.
Bungay made it 2-0 in the 15th minute. Kevin Riches found Tom Hunter with a defence-splitting ball and he took it in his stride before beating the keeper with an angled shot.
For Loddon, Matt Ayre hit the bar with a header from a corner, but it was 3-0 to Bungay in the 19th minute. Sam Olley found Dom Mirner down the right and his cross to the far post saw Hunter convert with a downward header.
Mirner made it 4-0 in the 25th minute as Bungay’s flowing football had Loddon chasing shadows.
Riches put a header into the keeper’s arms from Hunter’s free-kick at the start of the second half, before Ricci Butler, on his debut, was only just too high with a spectacular overhead kick. But it was soon 5-0, Shaun Whiteman heading Riches’ free-kick goalward and Mirner getting the final touch for his 11th goal of the season.
In the 82nd minute substitute Reece Evans, a former Loddon player, blocked an intended clearance by the keeper and as the ball fell kindly for him he put it into the empty net to make it 6-0. The home side finished well and after Jordan Smith had made a flying save to keep out a goal-bound shot, Ayre got a consolation.
Tomorrow Bungay entertain Aylsham (2.30pm) and Loddon visit Mundford (2).
