Bungay and Waveney Valley’s Lils James and Sam Cooper travelled to Stowmarket for the semi-final of the Haskell Competition against Ipswich.
The morning round was won by Ipswich three up with each side matching each other shot for shot, but Ipswich had some long putts drop, while Bungay lipped out.
In the afternnon Lils and Sam were five down after seven. They battled hard to pull it back and a massive tee shot from Lils on the 15th and a great chip from Sam got it back to two down. On the 16th another putt that looked into the hole but didn’t drop meant the match went to Ipswich.
Bowls: Beccles Institute BC held their annual President’s Open Pairs competition. Winners were Trevor and Joy Squire who defeated defeating Christian and Neil Newsome 15-9. Third were Donald Smart and Geoff Wheeler, 17-7 winners over Dennis Boast and Percy Harris.
