BECCLES Caxton FC hosted their annual five-a-side at Caxton Meadow on Saturday.

They were rewarded with a strong entry of nearly a score of sides and an appreciative crowd who enjoyed a well-run tournament in excellent conditions, the rain holding off until the very last minute.

Several sides made strong running in the early stages, such as Cleveland Steamers and Barry'sV11, and so tight were the leagues that only a penalty shot-out decided the final four places.

In the end it was Caxton themselves who contested a well fought final against Ingate All Stars with Caxton deservedly winning 3-2 at the final whistle.

Chief organiser Tony Pasque who presented the trophies (sponsored by Bob's Garden Services), thanked everybody who had made the afternoon such a success, especially referees Sean Soloman, Gary Knights and Simon Peck who had worked tirelessly the whole afternoon.

This year there was the significant sight of the imposing view of the new changing rooms rising from the ashes of the old Caxton Hut, beloved by so many over the years.
