CRICKET: A local 20/20 competition, which ran for nearly 30 years until it’s demise seven years ago, is being restored this season.
The Ashby Cup was given by Alan Clemence, of former Loddon Bakery Firm W C Clemence & Sons, and the competition run by his son, Paul.
Paul said: “Father died last June and I thought it was appropriate to re-start it again in his memory.”
Eight clubs were invited and all accepted: Ashby St Mary, Brooke, Bungay, Gillingham, Hales/Loddon, Langley School, “Marlets”, Saxlingham and Topcroft.
The draw takes place at Ashby’s next meeting on February 22.
