THERE were some excellent matches last weekend at the Beccles Indoor Bowls Club finals.The highlight of the weekend were the three singles finals which took place on Sunday morning.

The highlight of the weekend were the three singles finals which took place on Sunday morning.
In the men's singles Shaun Cook recovered from 16-3 behind to win 21-19 against John Nixon.
The ladies' singles was also closely contested with Margaret Moore overcoming June Plant by 21-16. The junior singles produced an even closer finish with Louise Catchpole edging home 21-20 against Ben Harber.

Shaun Cook made it a double when with Andrew Clarke he retained the pairs title against Larry Winterton and Mark Cole. The closest game of the weekend came in the men's triples, where Mark Todd, David Todd and David Wood won on an extra end against Graham Catchpole, Ian Catchpole and John Catchpole.

The Justin Smith pairs final has been held over to this weekend and will be played on Saturday evening at 6pm between Kirsty Clarke and Shaun Cook and Margaret Moore and Cyril Moore.
The final of the David Ellwood Cup took place during the week and the winners were P Sterry, A Meadows and D Francis who beat J Ellwood, M Filby and Phil Sarginson 17-9.
Last week saw Cyril Moore and David Wood beat Mark and David Todd by two shots in the semi-final of the County pairs. The final will be played this Sunday at Sudbury. In the semi-final of the County fours, Mark Todd, Cyril Moore, John Catchpole and David Wood were beaten on an extra end by John Chalk's four from Lakenheath.
