Bungay first team hosted Old Buckenham A in another promotion clash and ended up with a losing draw.
Bungay are still in contention for a promotion place but need to make sure they win their next few games to put themselves in a good position for the final few games which will be against the current top three.
Having won the toss, Bungay skipper Fuller elected to bowl first. Bungay started poorly with Fuller and Mattocks being punished for poor bowling and this helped Old Buckenham race to 70-0 after 14 overs.
With a big score looming captain Fuller turned to the spin of Haines who managed to stem the flow of runs, combining well with the returning Fuller; the two bowlers put the game back in Bungays hands.
With the score on 151-5 and with 10 overs remaining Elden and York bowled very tightly to keep runs to a minimum and restrict the visitors to 197-7, a very good performance from the fielding side and this looked a total within reach.
An early departure for Mattocks brought York to the crease to join Lewis and they rebuilt the innings, York in particular looking good.
However, with the score on 83-1 at drinks, Bungay lost both Lewis and York in consecutive overs to leave Elden and Fuller the job of finishing off the game. They took their time to get in before starting to punish the bowling. Elden was dismissed for 25 with the score on 136 after 34 overs and Fuller allowed his batsmen the chance to swing and go for the win, especially with the field spread out every time Fuller faced a delivery.
But two interesting LBW decisions swayed the game back into the visitors’ hands and Bungay had to rebuild slightly and with three overs to go and 20 runs needed
Bungay went for the win, but could only muster a further 12 runs and were left with a 90 per cent losing draw, ending on 189-8 with Fuller making 43.
