LODDON continued on their losing streak when they were defeated by Kirkley Sports.

Loddon were only able to field ten players and were beaten by five wickets.

Loddon won the toss and Jones elected to bat. Loddon started well with Armiger (20) and Jones (10) seeing off the new ball. Armiger fell as he was just getting in to his stride and wickets followed regularly after this. Nunn (32) offered some resistance but it was left to Johnstone (16) to bat with the tail and get the score up over 100.

The innings closed with Loddon all out for 102.

Kirkley started well and looked to be cruising towards their target. Loddon got back in with a shout when Musker McIntyre MoM Nunn took two wickets in two balls. Rowson and Clemence bowled well picking up three wickets between them. However, the Loddon score was nowhere near enough and Kirkley passed the score with five wickets in hand.

Last week's Musker McIntyre man of the match was David Debenham.

Loddon A played Sprowston C at home and lost out in a tight finish.

Loddon got off to a slow start with J Perry and A Wells opening the batting, with just 17 off the first 10 overs, due to the ball seaming off the wicket.

J Perry (5) fell in the 13th over after an opening partnership of 20, followed by A Wells shortly after, for a well-made 12.

R Edmonds and R Andrews both struggled facing M Hanby with Andrews taking a couple on the arm. Andrews battled through for a stout 10 but lost his leg stump to a ball that sharply cut back in from Hanby followed next ball by T Jermy, bringing the in-form G Shipley in.

Edmonds and Shipley then set about running the Sprowston fielders into the ground, picking up singles and twos with ease.

When 10 overs were left, both started to play their shots with G Shipley hitting some great fours and R Edmonds hitting a six over cow corner. After a partnership of 51 Shipley was finally dismissed for 24.

After some excellent running M Edmonds and R Edmonds were left 4 not out and 46 not out respectively. Loddon finished on 119-5 off their 45 overs.

Sprowston C then set about scoring 120 to win but were dealt an early blow, R Andrews cleaning up P Hales with a peach of a delivery. R Andrews bowled brilliantly, bowling his 12 straight off for just 12 runs.

The two Sprowston batsmen dug in for 27 overs for a partnership of 47 until T Jermy bowled D Watkins around his legs for 23, and then picked up the new batsman H Stanley for two thanks to an excellent catch from J Perry.

R Squire was striking the ball well until he was bowled by R Edmonds for 44, and then his partner C Poole was caught by a stunning catch by A Wells for 21. With 10 overs left Sprowston still required 43 runs. It was left to a captain's innings by K Palmer to see Sprowston over the line with just one over left.

Musker McIntyre MoM: R Edmonds for his patient 46 not out and two wickets.
