THE Black Dogs completed the first half of their Anglian Combination Division One season on Saturday with a highly entertaining 3-2 victory which completed a double over Attleborough.

Bungay's next game is at Sole Bay (Southwold) on January 3.

In by far the best match at the Maltings Meadow this season Bungay came back from a goal down to dominate the second half and hit the woodwork four times. But it was an own goal which proved the winner 12 minutes from the end.

Bungay's midfield was in control for much of the match and launched attacks which, with better finishing, could have seen the side win much more comfortably.

Tom Amis almost got on to a through-ball from Neil Renaut but the keeper was first to it, and the visitors took the lead when Paul Bullen's control in midfield let him down, the ball deflected off Craig Hunting and into the path of Greenwood, who moved forward to beat Jimmy Bligh.

Another good move by Attlebough saw Giles fire just wide. But the Black Dogs gradually got into the game and Shaun Payne headed wide from Paul Hunter's free-kick. Then Bullen, who had his best game since returning to the club, netted with a header following a Hunter free-kick only to have it disallowed for offside.

A defender just beat Amis to another through-ball from Renaut, and Bungay carved out a good chance as Mark Harvey crossed, only to see the unmarked Hunter head wide.

But the deserved equaliser came as Bullen was brought down as he forced his way into the box, and Amis made no mistake with the penalty. Shortly after Amis was put clear but the keeper came out to block his shot.

Bungay started the second half as they finished the first, with some good build-up play.

Hunter brought a fine fingertip save from the keeper after good work by Bullen. Then the keeper managed to tip an effort from a desperate defender onto the bar.

The Black Dogs went ahead in the 55th minute as good football down the right saw Bullen cross into the box and when the ball broke to Danny Wilby 25 yards out and he controlled it and drove it home.

But the side relaxed and the visitors were level within 90 seconds, with Greenwood on hand to blast home from close in after Bligh had done well to block another effort.

From then on it was almost all Bungay.

The breakthough came in the 78th minute as Thomas Daniels, on as a substitute for Harvey, crossed from the right and a defender back-headed it over his own stranded keeper.

Attleborough netted in a rare sortie but a forward was clearly offside, and before the end Bungay's flowing football carved out another chance as Renaut put Wilby clear but he tried to set up Amis instead of shooting and the keeper blocked the striker's effort.
