A BUMPER Boxing Day crowd braved the elements on Southwold Common to watch the traditional festive Under 30s versus Over 30s match as members of Southwold Rugby Club battled it out for charity.

With a few late calculations the score was deemed to be a 27-27 draw.

The match soon slipped into the usual pattern.

The Over 30s were playing expansive rugby from one to eight.

When the Under 30s got hold of the ball they zipped the ball to their speedy wingers.

Elliot McDaniel put himself about the pitch, while the Over 30s responded with halcyon rugby, driving and mauling towards the line to keep in touch with the scoring.

The Unders were wayward with their kicking, allowing the more accurate Overs to draw the game.

Southwold RFC would like to thank all those who contributed to raising money for the Glynn Alexander Leukaemia Fund, with a cheque in excess of 450 to be sent to the Leukaemia Trust.

The next games on Southwold Common will be tomorrow, weather willing, with the first XV entertaining Thurston and the second team playing their counterparts from Thetford.
