ON a very warm Friday evening 330 runners took part in the Worstead five-mile race, part of the Worstead Festival, with what seemed like the whole village turning out to watch or help marshal the race.

The star of the eight Bungay Black Dog runners was Lynn Emmett who finished the race in 33:44 minutes in 54th overall and was awarded the first female V35 award.

A few seconds behind was Robin Wilson who is turning in some very good short race times this season.

He finished in 61st overall in a time of 33:58. A minute behind Robin was Chris Chorley, who finished in 75th overall in 34:50.

Next to finish was Bruce Rayner in 115th place (38:03), just pipping Neil Thomas by 10 seconds and five places.

Bobbie Sauerzapf finished in 40:07mins (153rd) with novice runner, Karen Waters, running well to finish in 54:50 (303rd).

Bobbie and Chris then decided to have a 'warm down' by taking part in the Newmarket 10k race.

On one of the hottest days of the year 139 runners took part with Chris finishing in 36th place in a time of 45:49 with Bobbie running well in the heat to finish 76th in 51:41.
