Bungay (25pts) beat Norwich B (8) by nine wickets in Norfolk Alliance Division Four after winning the toss on a good batting track and electing to bowl first, feeling they could chase anything. That proved true as George Mattocks hit 93no and Will Lewis 71.

Chris Fuller and George Mattocks opened the bowling, and Mattocks produced a brilliant delivery to take the opening wicket.

Norwich B then had a positive second-wicket stand. Will Lewis came on and took two important wickets.

Captain Chris Fuller came back on and took the wicket of Norwich’s captain and stroke maker.

Norwich fought back and took the attack to the bowlers for the remaining few overs, but Tom York again bowled a tight spell.

Wickets seven and eight were shared between George Mattocks and Chris Fuller and in the last over Mattocks bowled one player and the last batsman was ran out after fine work from Will Lewis. Norwich B posted 208.

Bungay’s George Mattocks and Will Lewis looked to dominate early on. Lewis punished anything short and raced to 71 before being well caught in the deep.

Martyn Ramm joined Mattocks, who upped the tempo and started crashing elegant front-foot drives to the boundary.

In the 30th over the game was won with Ramm on 28 not out and George Mattocks on a stunning 93 not out.

n Bungay A (25pts) beat Saham Toney A by 110 runs in Norfolk League Division Three

A Devastating spell of 6-17 from Luke Pawsey demolished Saham Toney A as Bungay A got their season off the ground, delivering a 110-run thrashing.

Chasing down a challenging 192, the visitors punished Danny Mowday, but Pawsey soon found a good line, ripping through Rimmer’s defences in the fourth over with the score 22.

The reply had rattled along to 45 in the eighth over, before Pawsey took Huckle’s off stump.

Alfie James struck in his first over, removing the dangerous Bowman. Pawsey then struck the hammer blows, grabbing three wickets in four balls, all bowled, to leave Saham Toney staggering on 57 for six.

James grabbed another wicket, and Pawsey bowled Steve Huckle first ball making the total 61 for eight and Bungay A coasted to victory.

Electing to bat, Bungay lost opener Carl Cudden early but vice-captain Tony Chang (36) and Tim Porter put on 67 for the second wicket.

Will Hunt joined Porter, who reached his half-century as the pair put on 48 before Porter was bowled for a patient 67. Bungay fell nine short of maximum batting points.
