FOUR goals in the first half earned Beccles Ladies a well-deserved three points against visitors Denver.

This was a fantastic hockey performance by the whole team who played magnificently throughout, gelling spectacularly together.

A move, starting with Heather Brand but involving four other players, saw Beccles play some lovely passing moves as they made their way into the opposition's half to have the final move executed by the well-positioned Coral Moore, who had an excellent game.

This unexpected lead gave the team confidence against Denver who last season finished two places above them. Beccles stormed ahead with two further goals.

A defensive error was capitalised on by Debbie Mann who intercepted a short pass hit out, entered the D and neatly placed the ball to the keeper's right.

Ali Foreman struck an accurate ball to Carol Maycock and then moved to the near post where she connected with Carol's shot and swept the ball home.

Denver continued to plague Beccles in numbers but the defence did a superb job. Lorraine Calver swept up and cleared the ball out of the defence many times.

Again both Laura Cook and Heather Brand were well on form and their contribution was invaluable to the result. As Beccles pressed forward, Annette Freeman's determination paid off as she struck the ball into the path of Debbie Mann to strike the ball into the back of the net.

The second half proved to be as exciting and skilful but with no further score.

This week Beccles play away to UEA, 11.30 start.
