DESPITE six wickets from 16-year-old Chris Fuller, Bungay lost in the Norfolk League Division One by 27 runs against Aldborough at the village green on Saturday.

Bungay travel to Rollesby tomorrow looking to get back to winning ways. The A team are at home to local rivals Hales A.

Asked to field first on a glorious summer's day, Aldborough got off to a flying start with the home side's captain E Botwright taking a particular fancy to the bowling of J Lewis.

After 15 overs the score was 100 for no wicket and Bungay were staring at a 300-plus run chase. W Lewis finally made the breakthrough, dismissing Reeve for 17.

Botwright continued to attack until he became the first of Fuller's wickets for a fine 66.

Bungay then started to apply the brakes with good bowling from T York and C Fuller, and after 30 overs, the home side were 140-2.

Bungay then started to claw their way back into the game as D Fuller and C Fuller bowled in tandem at the end with C Fuller picking up a further five wickets to finish with 6-36 and D Fuller claiming one as Aldborough finished 225-9 from the 45 overs.

Bungay knew a positive approach was needed and M Watts and C Fuller provided it with their first 50 partnership of the season after just seven overs.

When Watts was bowled by Reeve for 41, T York made his intentions clear, launching three big sixes and Bungay were 105 after 15 overs.

When York was bowled by Reeve and W Lewis was removed by the spin of Flannagen, D Fuller joined J Lewis at the crease and the pair began to rebuild. Tight bowling from Flannagen and Bacon restricted the scoring and Bungay started to slip behind the run rate.

Looking to up the tempo, Lewis was run out for 25 but this brought D Davis to the crease who launched his attack on Bacon, taking 18 from one over, and Bungay were now back in the game requiring just five runs an over.

Bacon got his revenge however, taking a good return catch from Davis and at 180-7 hopes of a Bungay victory were left with the captain.

Fuller and S Davey got the victory target down to 29 when Fuller dragged a wide ball onto his own stumps and Bungay's chance had gone.

Aldborough took the remaining two wickets to wrap up the game.
