The annual fundraising golf day for the Lady Captain's Charity at Bungay Golf Club took place on Friday May 21 with guests from 22 clubs in the region.

The annual fundraising golf day for the Lady Captain's Charity at Bungay Golf Club took place on Friday May 21 with guests from 22 clubs in the region.

The charity chosen by this year's Ladies' Captain, Penny Adams, is the North Suffolk and District Branch of the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the day raised a total of �1,725.

The format of the competition was a stableford for teams of four with the best two scores counting.

The results were: 1 M Attlee, V Hindle, L Burroughs, J Litton 92pts; 2 A Cunningham, L Jeary, S Ball, J Cardwell 91; 3 K Hazell, S Cumming, B Waspe, D Evans 90; 4 H Wright, H Squirrell, C Muttitt, C Ashe 88; 5 L Harvey-Arnell, J Flewitt, Y Hollis, S Moore 87ocb; 6 V Mallett, E Rumsey, T West, C Perks 87.

The best Bungay Team was S Potter, S Blackham, J Hammett, P Douglas 91pts.

The Longest Drive prize was won by Yvonne Hollis and Susan Moore won the Nearest the Pin Prize.

Valerie Moore Cup: Tuesday saw a very high scoring round for the 18 hole medal competition. Twelve players returned nett scores equal to or better than the Competition Scratch Score of 70, and Liz Jeary (11) and Deborah Pottinger (7) both had a gross score of 77.

Margaret Hoffman (27) came first with a nett 65, Margaret Attlee (21) was second with a nett 66ocb and Liz Jeary (11) came third also with a nett 66.

All three reduced their playing handicaps as did Val Hindle, Pat Douglas, Bridget Collings and Liz Lord. Apart from the cup there were no prizes and all money received which included many donations goes to the Big C cancer charity.
