HALES Gnats took over as leaders of the Beccles and District Table Tennis League (sponsored by Alan Cook Accommodations) last week with a 10-0 win over Framingham Magpies.
However, this was by no means a straightforward victory, with five games going to deuce.
Olly Howes and Gordon Howes won all their matches in straight legs, but there was an amazing game during Gordon's match against Alf Stubbs which he just edged 21-19.
Alan Harper took David Flatt to a fourth leg, but the outstanding match of the evening was a fifth-leg victory for David over Barry Fortune.
Barry won the first two legs, but David won the next three.
Hales New Bees moved up to fourth place after an 8-2 victory over Hales Eagles.
