Phoenix Karate Schools held a weekend of gradings across the area. Over one hundred students graded, among them six from the Beccles club.

Going for 12th kyu Yellow belt was beginner Sjaak Leggett, while Joseph Bird took his 10th kyu Orange Belt.

Going for 12th kyu Yellow belt was beginner Sjaak Leggett, while Joseph Bird took his 10th kyu Orange Belt. Rhys Barnard, Ellie Borrett, Matthew Ayling and his brother Daniel were all going for 9th kyu Orange Belt with a Black Stripe.

Chief Instructor Charlie Trorey 4th Dan said: 'The Beccles students were very focused with everyone making the grade and brothers Daniel and Matthew Ayling obtaining a Distinction after giving a strong display.”

Anyone wishing to train with the Phoenix Karate Schools, at the Beccles Sports Centre, on Saturdays at 2pm, or the East Anglian Martial Arts Centre, Oulton Broad, on a Tuesday evening 5.15pm for juniors and 8pm adults can ring Charlie on 01502 730171 or Vivianne on 07895 550168 for more details.
