Beccles Town 5 Corton 3
Beccles went into their midweek fixture against Corton buoyed by Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Hellesdon.
Town were able to add fresh legs and welcomed back Jason Wright, Alex Greengrass, Jordan Rodwell and Paul Heaney. They lined up with: Avery, Rodwell, Shade, Batt, Greengrass, Heaney, Udell, Wright, Hurren, Clark and Remblance, with Fulcher, Booker and Pluck on the bench.
Beccles again started brightly and passed the ball round well with Heaney, Udell and Wright controlling proceedings, which allowed the Wherrymen to create a few half chances for Remblance and Clark. On 15 minutes Beccles made the breakthrough when Rodwell and Wright combined well down the flank before the latter crossed for Hurren who finished well inside the box.
Town soon doubled their lead through Saturday’s hat-trick hero Clark. Remblance flicked the ball on to Hurren who ran down the right and crossed for Clark to arrive at the back post and head the ball into the net.

Soon after extending their lead, Beccles conceded a sloppy goal. A pass back to Avery was closed down quickly and the ball cannoned off towards an unmarked player who had the simplest of tasks to tap in.
This did not affect Beccles as they pushed forward to grab a third. Remblance played in Clark down the left and he beat his man before crossing for Hurren to finish.

Corton did not lie down and die, however, and soon after pulled a goal back again. This time a corner was not cleared and from the second ball into the box, a striker jumped highest to power his header past Avery.
This whirlwind of a first half continued just before the break as Beccles again increased their lead by two goals, and this time it was Remblance who got his name on the score sheet. Some good work and a cross from the right by Rodwell found Clark who crashed his header against the bar and Remblance was on hand to tap home the rebound.
The second half was more of a cagey affair and it was Corton who struck first. A long ball from the keeper was flicked on in midfield and the striker’s pace allowed him to get away from Shade before drawing Avery and making it 4-3.
Beccles then made a change with Booker replacing Wright and this seemed to provide some extra legs in midfield and allowed Town to grow back into the game. Town eventually got their fifth in the 75th minute. A good passing move saw Rodwell released down the right and his cross was headed into the net by Clark to wrap up the points and make it five goals in two league games.
Beccles are at Hindringham tomorrow.
